Vijay Sethupathi: Movies, Family, Biography

Vijay Sethupathi is a renowned south Indian film actor, who has worked predominantly in the Tamil movie industry. He’s a multitalented person with brilliant acting skills and is also a lyricist, producer as well as a dialogue writer. Prior to getting into a career in acting, Vijay Sethupathi pursued a career as an accountant. Having a keen interest in acting he started his journey in the Tamil film industry by taking up several roles as a background artist. During the first five years of his acting career, he did many supporting roles. Having recognized the brilliance in his acting, director Seenu Ramasamy’s cast him in the lead role for his film Thenmerku Paruvakaatru.

He slowly started gaining recognition and went on to portray the Villain role in the movie titled Sundarapandian. He got immense success as an actor and got a lot of appreciation from critics and film audiences with films like Naduvula Konjam Pakkatha Kaanom and Pizza. People started recognizing the versatile actor in him and he’s currently one of the most popular and successful actors of Tamil cinema.

Vijay Sethupathi’s Early Life

Sethupathi was born in Rajapalayam, Virudhunagar district.  He completed his education in Chennai & after graduating with a B.Com degree he worked as n accountant in Dubai, UAE. Having worked for more than three years as an accountant, he wasn’t much satisfied with his job & wanted to try his chance in acting. After returning to India in 2003, he acted in many short films alongside Karthik Subbaraj who later cast him in his debut film. He was also a part of Nalaya Iyakunar for Kalaignar TV. He also won the best actor award at the Norway Tamil Film Festival short film competition.

Mainstream Roles

Vijay’s first lead role came with Ramasamy’s film ‘Thenmerku Paruvakaatru’ in 2011 & his performance was praised by critics. Then, 2012 proved to be a successful year as three of his films went on to become successful both commercially & critically. He started that year by portraying the villain role in Sundarapandian and the film became critically and commercially successful. He then appeared in ‘Naduvula Konjam Pakkatha Kaanom’ and the thriller film ‘Pizza’, respectively, and both the films were successful at the box office.

Movie ‘96‘ got him a huge fan base all over south India. In the year 2019, he acted in ten films including his Malayalam debut film Marconi Mathai. He was also seen in the Telugu films ‘Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy’ alongside the Megastar Chiranjeevi and ‘Uppena’. His performance in the negative role in Master was reviewed highly positive by fans and critics.

Besides acting, he is also a successful producer, dialogues writer, and has also done playback singing as well.

Vijay Sethupathi’s Marriage Life

Vijay Sethupathi married his girlfriend Jessy Sethupathi in 2003 with whom he has a son Surya Sethupathi and a daughter Shreeja Sethupathi.
