K.Raghavendra Rao is a prominent Indian film Directors who and is popularly known as Darshakendra. He’s a multitalented person and besides being a brilliant director, he’s also a successful screenwriter and choreographer. Having worked in Telugu, Bollywood, and Kannada films, he has got more than a hundred films to his name. Kovelamudi Raghavendra Rao was born on 23rd May 1942 in the state of Andhra Pradesh. He’s the son of the famous film director late Kovelamudi Surya Prakash Rao who has directed iconic movies like Prem Nagar. Raghavendra Rao completed his graduation degree in Arts from Andhra University and started assisting his father in direction for a brief period.

Raghavendra Rao directed his debut film in Telugu titled “Babu” in the year 1975. Upon its release, the film became a massive hit at the box office and it successfully launched his career as a passionate director.
Raghavendra Rao’s ‘Jagadeka Veerudu Athiloka Sundari’:
In the year 1990, Raghavendra Rao Jagadeka directed a film titled ‘Jagadeka Veerudu Athiloka Sundari’ starring Chiranjeevi and Sridevi. Upon release, the film became a massive success, grossing ₹15 crores at the box office and becoming the highest-grossing Telugu film at that time. Winning five Nandi Awards the film is regarded as a cult classic of Telugu cinema.
Raghavendra Rao’s ‘Gharana Mogudu’:
He has directed a number of super hit and blockbuster films in the Telugu film industry. In 1992, he directed a film starring Chiranjeevi titled “Gharana Mogudu”. Upon its release, the film went on to break all the box-office records in Tollywood.

He has worked with almost all the prominent actors in the Telugu film industry and he did 12 films with Veteran legendary actor NTR, 8 films with Chiranjeevi, and has done the most number of films with actresses, Sridevi, counting to 17 films.
He was also responsible for shaping the careers of the current age leading actors in the Tollywood film industry including Mahesh Babu, Venkatesh, Allu Arjun, and Junior NTR.
