Dhanush’s Early Life & Family:

Dhanush is a versatile Tamil film actor and is the son-in-law of Superstar Rajnikanth.  He was born on 28th July 1984 and his birth name was Venkatesh Prabhu. His father and brother are well-known names in the Tamil film industry. His father is no other than the popular film director Kasthuri Raja and his elder brother is director Selvaraghavan. His mom Vijayalakshmi is a homemaker. He also has two elder sisters who are doctors by profession. Having completed his higher secondary education, Dhanush stepped into the film industry field with the compulsion of his brother.

Dhanush made his entry into the Tamil film industry with his debut film Thulluvadho Ilamai which was directed by his father Kasthuri Raja. The film was a massive hit at the box office with both the audience and critics praising Danush acting skills. For his second film, Dhanush worked under the direction of his brother Selvaraghavan for Kadhal Konden. This film happens to be the directional debut for Selva and upon its release, the film became a successful venture and earned big fame for Dhanush.

His third film Thiruda Thirudi was also critically and commercially successful and his performance was praised by both critics and the film audience. His next film Pudhukottaiyilirindhu Saravanan failed to perform well at the box office and was directed by Stanley. His next venture was an action film named Sullan and this film also failed to impress the film audience.

After two back-to-back failures, he again teamed up with his brother for Pudhupettai. In this movie, Dhanush portrayed the character of a gangster and his brilliant acting and body language earned him many fans however, the film didn’t perform well at the box office. It almost took him three years to deliver his next commercial hit at the box office with the film Thiruvilayadal Arambam. This movie depicts the love story of a poor guy and a rich girl in a comic sense.

Dhanush received the biggest disaster of his career with the film Parattai Engira Azhagu Sundaram which happens to be a remake of the Kannada movie Jogi. This film was followed by a commercially successful film Polladhavan. This film was released during Deepavali, and it also happens to be the debut directorial of Vetrimaran and was received well by both critics and the film audience.

After working in a few commercially successful films, Dhanush won the Best Actor award in 2011 in the 58th National Awards for the movie Aadukalam.

Dhanush’s “Why this Kolaveri Di”:

Dhanush worked in the film 3 which was directed by his wife Aishwarya Rajinikanth and it became a commercial successful project. Dhanush received huge acclaim for the brilliant display of his acting skills. He also sang a song in this film titled “Why this Kolaveri Di” and it became a big hit on YouTube, which got him his Hindi debut movie Ranjhanaa. For the first time, he acted in A R Rahman’s music Mariyaan, a film by Bharath Bala.

Dhanush’s Relationship & Kids:

Dhanush married Aishwarya Rajinikanth on 18th Nov 2004 and the couple has two children whom they have named Yathra and Linga.

Having worked in more than 44 films over his career, Dhanush has received many awards and the list includes 13 SIIMA Awards, nine Vijay Awards, seven Filmfare Awards South, five Vikatan Awards, five Edison Awards, four National Film Awards (two as actor and two as producer), and a Filmfare Award.

Dhanush’s Net Worth:

Dhanush’s net worth is estimated to be around $22 Million (2021).
