Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson who is popularly known as Emma Watson is a globally acclaimed Hollywood actress. She has so far been very successful in wooing the global film audience with her charming personality and brilliant acting skills. She was a part of many blockbuster films and is best remembered for her portrayal of Hermione Granger in the famous Harry Potter series. Besides Harry Potter, her roles in mainstream films like Ballet Shoes, My Week with Marilyn, Noah, Beauty and the Beast, and The Perks of Being a Wallflower are highly acclaimed by the film critics and the audience. She’s also the face of reputed brands like Burberry and was also appointed as a UN Women Goodwill Ambassador.

Emma Watson was born on April 15, 1990, in Paris, France. She hails from a well-educated family & both her parents Chris Watson and Jacqueline Luesby are lawyers by profession. Her parents divorced each other while Emma was still a child. Emma Watson spent her first five years in Paris and then moved to Oxfordshire in England, along with her mother and brother. She would occasionally visit London to meet her father. Emma developed an interest in acting at a very young age of six. She completed her schooling at Dragon School in Oxford. She also took lessons in singing, acting, and dancing, at the part-time theatre school, Stagecoach Theatre Arts. She also participated in many school plays.

Even after signing up for the Harry Potter franchise, Emma never neglected her studies. She got herself enrolled at Brown University in Rhode Island, USA, and completed her English degree in 2014.

Emma Watson’s ‘Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone’ (2001):

Emma Watson ventured into the film industry in the year 2001 when she was cast to play the role of the smart witch Hermione in the first part of the Harry Potter series titled ‘Sorcerer`s Stone’. Before being finalized for the role, she had to go through a series of eight auditions. Upon its release, the film became a massive hit at the box-office breaking several records and it also became the highest grosser of 2001.  Emma Watson’s performance in the film was praised by everyone and she went on to win the Young Artist Award for Leading Young Actress.

Emma appeared in her first non-Harry Potter movie in the year 2007 when she was cast to play the role of Pauline Fossil for a TV film titled ‘Ballet Shoes’. The film was telecasted on Boxing Day in 2007 in the UK.
