Kaikala Satyanarayana is a popular Indian film actor who worked in prominent roles in many films in the Tollywood film industry. He’s known for his striking personality and sound voice. Besides being a talented actor, he’s also a successful producer and film director. He also worked as the jury member for South Region II at the 59th National Film Awards.
With a career span of more than 4 decades, and has acted in more than 750 films, Kaikala Satyanarayana is one of the legendary actors in the Telugu film industry. From portraying the role of a mythological, villain to comedy and soft roles, he’s considered as the king of all nine Rasas. He was given the title Navarasa Natanaa Sarvabhouma. Throughout his film career, he has won many awards including Raghupathi Venkaiah Award and the 2017 Filmfare Award for lifetime achievement in Telugu cinema.
Kaikala Satyanarayana’s Early Life:
Kaikala Satyanarayana was born on July 25, 1935, in Kautaram village in Krishna district. His father’s name is Kaikala Laxmi Narayana. As a part of his primary and intermediate education, he spent a lot of time in Gudivada and Vijayawada. He also did his graduation from Gudivada College.
Kaikala Satyanarayana’s Film Career:
After completing his graduation, Satyanarayana came to Madras to pursue a career in acting. He was first recognized by the DL Narayana who cast him in a role in his film which was titled ‘Sipayi Koothuru’. This film was directed by Changayya and was released in the year 1959. The film had an average run at the box office but Satyanarayana’s performance was praised by everyone. The film helped him in getting the much-needed early recognition.
Kaikala Satyanarayana as Dupe for NTR:
One of the major reasons why filmmakers were interested in Satyanarayana was his striking resemblance to no other than Sri Nandamuri Taraka Ramarao Garu.
He then started to play the dupe role to NTR in several movies. IN the year 1960, NTR offered Satyanarayana the role of a prince in his film Apoorva Sahasra Siraccheda Chintamani directed by SD Lal.
Kaikala Satyanarayana Iconic Negative Roles:
Satyanarayana’s career took a turn when he was cast as a villain by no other than the famous director of the mystique films Vitalacharya Garu. He was cast in a negative role in films like Kanaka Durga Pooja Mahima and more. He was more popular for his negative roles and became a popular villain of the ‘90s era in Telugu cinema.
Kaikala Satyanarayana’s Portrayal of Lord Yama Dharma Raja:
Besides acting in many films in the negative role, he also did character roles and he has always given his best performance whatever the role he was given. He later became very popular for portraying the character of Lord Yama. He brilliantly carried the role of Lord Yama Dharma Raja in films like Yamagola and Yamaleela.
He also set up his own production banner with the name Rama films and made films such as Kodama Simham, Bangaru Kutumbam, Muddula Mogudu, etc.
Kaikala Satyanarayana’s Political Career:
In the year 1996, Kaikala Satyanarayana contested and successfully won the Lok Sabha elections from the Machilipatnam constituency.
Kaikala Satyanarayana’s Relationship:
He married Nageswaramma on April 10, 1960, and is blessed with two daughters and sons.
