Kasinadhuni Viswanath popularly known as K. Viswanath is one of the highly acclaimed Telugu film directors. He’s a multitalented person and besides being a brilliant director, he’s also a good Actor, Sound Designer, and Writer. He made significant contributions to the Indian film industry by working for films across different languages like Hindi, Telugu, and Tamil. Some of his best contributions to the cinema include all-time classical films like Sagara Sangamam in 1983 and Sankarabharanam in 1979. Vishwanath has made a series of films based on varied themes of art, music, and dance.

K. Viswanath’s Early Life:


Viswanath was born on February 19th, 1930, in Repalle, Madras State, India. His father’s name is Kasinadhuni Subrahmanyam and his mother’s name is Kasinadhuni Saraswatamma.

Viswanath started his career journey by working as a film technician in Chennai. He then went on to assist Mr. Adurti Subba Rao in his direction. He also worked as an assistant to legendary directors like Ramnoth K. Balachander and also Bapu.

K. Viswanath’s Directorial Debut:


After working as an assistant under the great legendry directors, K. Viswanath made his directorial debut with the film ‘Aatma Gowravam’ starring Akkineni Nageswara Rao Garu. He rose to popularity as a successful director with the film ‘Siri Siri Muvva’ and the film got him much-needed recognition and fame.

K. Viswanath’s Swathi Muthyam:

Viswanath’s directed Swathi Muthyam in the year 1986 and upon its release, the film went on to become a major box-office success. The film was India’s official entry to the Oscars in 1986.

K. Viswanath’s Sankarabharanam:

In the year 1979, K. Viswanath directed Sankarabharanam which happens to be one of the most iconic films in Indian cinema. The film was reviewed extremely positively by both the film critics and the audience. This film has garnered him National Film Award for Best Popular Film.

K. Viswanath’s Awards:

Viswanath was awarded the Padma Shri by the Government of India for his contributions to Indian film. He will be awarded the Dadasaheb Phalke Award, the highest award in Indian cinema, at the 64th National Film Awards.

Totally K. Viswanath received 5 National Film Awards, 10 Filmfare Awards, 6 State Nandi Awards, and one Bollywood Filmfare award.

K. Viswanath’s Personal Life:

Viswanath is married to Jaya Lakshmi and the couple is blessed with three children, two sons named Nagendranath and Ravindranath Viswanath and a daughter named Padmavathi Viswanath.
