Barry Jenkins unveiled ‘Mufasa: The Lion King’ at D23.

A prequel to the 2019 live-action adaptation of The Lion King. The upcoming film, which will be directed by Barry Jenkins and tell the story of how Simba’s father, Mufasa, rose from lowly beginnings to become the ruler of all the Pridelands, will serve as a prequel to the upcoming live-action adaptation of The Lion King, which is scheduled to be released in 2019.

The audience at the D23 expo was treated to an exclusive screening of the film’s preview material, in addition to the announcement of the film’s title.

Younger versions of the characters will be voiced by Aaron Pierre and Kelvin Harrison Jr., while Jeremy Irons and Chiwetel Ejiofor will take on the roles of the villainous Scar and Mufasa, respectively.

At the same time that the news was made, a brand-new teaser was presented at Disney’s D23 convention. The trailer provided us with a sneak peek at what we may anticipate from the Lion King prequel.
