Mani Ratnam‘s film has seen tremendous success in the Bollywood markets. The mega blockbuster, featuring prominent personalities such as Chiyaan Vikram, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Trisha Krishnan, Karthi, Jayam Ravi, and Sobhita Dhulipala, has opened to strong box office records. The film has already smashed many box office records and is on its way to breaking many more.

PS I grossed over 230 crores globally in its first weekend.

On Monday morning, trade analyst Manobala Vijaybalan posted the global gross data (which include ticket price and amusement tax), writing, “#PonniyinSelvan WW Box Office ENTERS the exclusive 200 cr club in only 3 days.” Day 1 – ₹ 78.29 cr Day 2 – ₹ 60.16 cr Day 3 – ₹ 64.42 cr Total – 202.87 crore.”

Based on Kalki’s books, Mani Ratnam’s historical drama centres on the political turmoil in the Chola Kingdoms. The sequel to the film is set to be released in 2023.
