Jaafar Jackson, Michael Jackson’s 26-year-old nephew, will play the part of his legendary uncle in the forthcoming biopic Michael, directed by Antoine Fuqua. Jaafar’s first significant film role will be in this film.

For Jaafar Jackson, 26, the second-youngest son of Michael’s older brother Jermaine Jackson (a composer and part of the Jackson 5), the film Michael will be his first significant cinematic role. When Jaafar made the announcement, he said he was “humbled and honoured” to take on the role.

From his most famous performances that gained him the title of greatest performer of all time to the allegations of child sexual abuse brought against him both during his life and after his death, the biopic will cover it all. The Michael Jackson estate reportedly is helping out with the film, which might have an impact on how the charges are handled.

Even though a judge ruled in 2003 that Jackson was not guilty of sexual abuse of children, the allegations continue to cloud his reputation. Jackson, who died at age 50 in 2009, always maintained his innocence.

A producer on the film, Graham King (who previously produced the Oscar-winning Queen biopic Bohemian Rhapsody), revealed that they looked everywhere for an actor to play Jackson before landing on Jaafar.
