In the upcoming Hulu adaptation of Erik Larson’s best-selling novel “Devil in the White City,” which will star Hollywood star Keanu Reaves, the character he will play will be the most prominent one he has ever played on television.
The impending drama, which has been planned as both a movie and a TV series ever since Leonardo DiCaprio optioned the concept in 2010, has reportedly received an official series order from the Disney-backed streaming service. The news was first reported by The Hollywood Reporter.
The announcement was made on Thursday as part of Hulu’s virtual time before the press during the summer tour of the Television Critics Association.
Devil in the White City features Daniel H. Burnham (played by Reeves). Sam Shaw will write, showrun, and produce. Todd Field directs. Scorsese and DiCaprio executive produce. Reese, Yorn, Sher, Field, and Lafferty executive produce. Scorsese was slated to make a cinematic adaptation starring DiCaprio. DiCaprio’s role in the upcoming series is unknown.
